General Information

Together with the International Office, we usually offer an orientation course of several weeks for international exchange students twice a year before the semester begins. The course usually takes place in March and September with several groups for different language levels. It is organised for international students who come to the Ruhr-Universität-Bochum (RUB) for one or two semesters through Erasmus+ and other exchange programmes.

In the orientation course you can expect:

• Intensive German lessons - four hours a day - at your language level. Together with other international students from all over the world, you will prepare yourself linguistically for your studies at RUB. We will prepare you linguistically for everyday life at the university as well as for communication during your studies. The focus here is on oral communication and content related to the country.
   
• An extensive social programme and intensive support in dealing with all formalities, e.g. enrolment, make it easier for you to settle in at our university. This component is organised by the RUB International Office (https://international.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/de/orientierungskurs).

The orientation course is the ideal start to your time studying in Bochum. Take advantage of this attractive offer. Here you can meet new people very quickly, make contacts, have a lot of fun with other exchange students, improve your German language skills and learn important things about life at RUB and in the region!
Following the orientation course, you can attend our study-accompanying language courses during the semester. You have to register for these courses with us yourself.
