UNIC – Online Language Modules (OLM)

Do you know UNIC?

UNIC steht für European University of Cities in Post-Industrial Transition.Ten European universities cooperate with UNIC. The Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB) is a part of it.

What course offers for German as a foreign language are there?

Various language programs have been developed within the framework of UNIC. One important offer consists of Online Language Modules (OLM) for self-learning.

Who are the OLMs for?

You don't have any knowledge of German? Then you have come to the right place. The modules are aimed at beginners at level A0/A1 and are ideal for preparing your visit to the Ruhr University Bochum. International students of the RUB (like UNIC and Erasmus students) are welcome to take part. The modules are also intended for staff members. Unfortunately, other target groups and international students taking part in paid programs cannot attend.

How are the modules structured?

You can work on the different course units independently of each other. Would you like to complete all modules? Then you will need around 30 hours. Since it is very important to get to know the RUB, the learning units are thematically based on typical communication with regard to the daily routine at our university. You can work through them independently of each other and at your own pace, whereby the focus is on motivation. You will learn autonomously. There is no supervision. The learning units are interactive and video animations are used to facilitate the learning process. Diversity plays a special role and has consistently been taken into account with regard to the selection of topics and characters.

How can I register?
